Chair Person Role

The Scottish Community Safety Network (The SCSN) is looking for an experienced Chairperson with knowledge of community safety and an understanding of the third sector and its interaction with government, statutory, public and commercial organisations.

SCSN is a registered Scottish Charity (SC357649) and Company Limited by Guarantee in Scotland (SC040464). We are primarily a membership organisation that brings together representatives from across the community safety sector to achieve a shared vision. In 2019 we became an umbrella organisation for community safety, also hosting Neighbourhood Watch Scotland and Home Safety Scotland (a network of home safety organisations and professionals).

We are the strategic voice for community safety in Scotland and through working collaboratively with our members and partner agencies aim to:

  • Provide leadership and be a centre of excellence for the community safety sector
  • Champion community safety and influence the shaping and development of national policy and local delivery
  • Be a collaborative learning, developing and sustainable network.

You can view our Strategic Plan here and our Business Plan here.  Our finance documents are – Annual Report 2020-21  & SCSN Audited Accounts 2020-21

The SCSN continues to go from strength to strength and is a financially stable and viable organisation.

The appointed Chairperson will be experienced in providing effective facilitation, leadership and strategic direction at board level and will be able to represent the Charity to both internal and external stakeholders.

A time commitment of around 2 days per month is required. The Board meets 4 times a year.  Due to existing COVID guidelines, at present the meetings are held virtually but going forward may be a mix of online and in person (Edinburgh office).

This post is not remunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The SCSN are also interested in recruiting new board members.  Please contact Lorraine Gillies, Lorraine.gillies@scsn.org.uk or 07584020904 for an informal discussion if you are interested.
