This months’ Question of the Month relates to the Older People strand of the Building Safer Communities National Strategic Assessment on Unintentional Harm. Older people are disproportionately affected by unintentional harm and most likely to be hospitalised and die as a result of unintentional harm, with falls being the most common emergency admission. Factors influencing high rates of unintentional harm amongst older people include deprivation, lonliness, poor health, poor mobility and dementia.
