Job description

We are seeking a Communications Assistant to provide support to our Communications Officer and wider team in developing our communications work across SCSN, Neighbourhood Watch Scotland (NWS) and Home Safety Scotland (HSS), with a particular focus on both Neighbourhood Watch Scotland and Home Safety Scotland.

Neighbourhood Watch Scotland (NWS)

Working with the SCSN Communications Officer and Neighbourhood Watch Scotland team, you will play a key role in further developing the voice of NWS– particularly on social and other digital media – and act as a conduit between NWS and SCSN, proactively developing/sourcing monthly newsletter and case study content for the NWS section of the Safety NETworks newsletter.

You will also be involved in developing and disseminating NWS communications campaigns and information, and assist with updating the NWS website.

Home Safety Scotland (HSS)

You will work closely with the SCSN Communications Officer and the Home Safety Scotland Forum to develop a Communications Action Plan for Home Safety Scotland.

Particular priority will be given to expanding the HSS content on the SCSN website, and growing the HSS social media channels via sourcing, developing and sharing regular home safety content.

Other tasks

You will support the SCSN Communications Officer and wider team as required with any communications activities, including working on campaigns, sourcing newsletter content and sharing social media content.

Person specification

We’re looking for someone with an enthusiasm for communicating ideas and information using social media in a way that anyone can understand. You’ll have a strong desire to learn and develop your skills and knowledge around communications. You’ll be committed and hard working.

Additional information

You will be trained in social media (including content management suites), website content management, video editing, creating digital graphics and published resources. You will be assisted to develop skills in writing blog posts.
